Our board
NUHS is governed by a Policy Board made up of representatives of various community groups, staff and members elected at our AGM. The Policy Board has overall financial responsibility and sets the direction for the service.

Tim Rochford
Chair
Tim took over as Chair November 2021. Tim is an experienced senior policy and research analyst. Tim’s skills are strategic planning, governance, health care delivery, teaching, research analysis and advocacy. He also has a strong outcome orientation to his work and an ongoing understanding and leadership role in his whānau, hapū and iwi.

Secretary
Fiona Osten holds the role as Board Secretary. Fiona is the Manager of Newtown Union Health Service. Trained as a nurse, Fiona has been at the service for 20 years. Fiona has been a Board representative for many years, initially as clinical representative and now as Board Secretary.

Community Representative/Treasurer
Julie Lamb has been a member of the NUHS Policy Board for the past 6 years, having joined the Board mid-2012. Julie brings a vast array of skills in finance, business and community connections.
Julie is an avid musician.

Clinical Representative
Jonathan has been a General Practitioner at Newtown Union Health Service since 2005. He also teaches medical students and other health professionals as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago, Department of Primary Health Care & General Practice. He is the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists delegate for Newtown Union Health Service. He brings to the board practical knowledge of the history and day-to-day medical work at Newtown Union Health Service, and a special interest in the health of refugees and migrants. This is Jonathan’s fourth term on the Newtown Union Health Service Board.
